“I feel like you’re going to see a lot less of those larger mass-made perfumes,” predicts Nelson. “I see people more interested in being thoughtful about where they’re choosing to put their money what they’re choosing to put on their body and in their body. That seems to be more status and more meaningful to them.”
I tell him I’m the now the biz partner of a best-selling author (buy Coke and Surf here, free worldwide delivery); Bruce says he’s had two months out of the water, all of June and July, after laser eye surgery. A pterygium made it feel like “someone had spit in my eye. Last winter, I’d drop in late, pull up and all of a sudden lose my balance. I looked like a fucking kook. I spent thirty years not realising it. It was like looking through a glass bottle. Towards the end it was really bad, like, does she have fuzzy skin? Do you have…scales?”

This small family business dates back to 1982 when Jim Payne, a British chemist, Buddhist and musician, set about making vegan perfumes for his family and friends. Today, Dolma’s range is certified by both The Vegan Society and Cruelty-Free International. Made with sustainably sourced essential oils, these fragrances are all paraben and palm oil-free, though synthetic musks are used to hold the scent. Finding a new scent can be tricky, especially as perfume doesn’t come cheap, which is why we loved the chocolate box-style set of 12 miniature vials – you can have fun choosing a favourite then give the others to friends with different olfactory tastes. Our favourites include the flowery Anahita, apple-tinged Raga and peachy Sonata with its heart of lily. Dolma’s scents become much more warming and attractive once on the skin, where they hang around all day and night – great for helping you discover which ones you love, as well as which ones you’d prefer to steer clear of. When you’re ready to commit, 50ml costs £32 and 100ml costs £65, but don’t expect much from the packaging – the full-size perfumes come in plain khaki green bottles.
“The entry is flat enough that all but the most rudimentary of surfers can still get it up and going immediately, although it’s much quicker. The pulled-in nose reduces swing weight and gives the feeling of a set back wide point,” says Biolos. “Combined with the pulled-in tail block, it creates the hip effect between and under the rear foot. This allows aggressive small-wave wraps while still maintaining drive, without any shuffling of the feet.”
Taking a taste or two while you’re cooking or from the tasting table at a store can help you decide if you got the seasoning right or if you really want to buy that 20-pound box of spanokopita (looking at you Costco!). But those little bites, licks, and sips can really add up, says Shari Portnoy, MPH, a registered dietitian in New York City. “I’ve seen people eat the equivalent of a meal before they ever sit down to the actual meal,” she says.
Among the discarded plastics that go into the manufacturing of these tiles are shampoo bottles, cleaners, disposable restaurant containers, milk covers and water bottles. Ramprasad also breaks down the amount of plastic required to construct one unit of tile.

We’ve found that even with this discount though, prices are often similar to those on Amazon, so always do some price comparisons before buying.
The perfume capital of the world has also inspired other fragrances in the collection, such as La Colle Noire and Rose Gipsy, while Sakura and Balade Sauvage were borne out of Demachy’s trips to Japan and Panarea. A majority of the fragrance names were conceived by Demachy himself.

Yes and no. I was a little suspect of the cream-to-powder texture and expected it to feel sticky, aka not great when you’re already sweaty, but I was pleasantly surprised. The powder finish stayed true to its promise and had a matte feel. Always nice when you’re feeling a little sweaty. I would say it didn’t last ages, and that was just sitting in a warm-ish office, so the more active women out there would need to reapply.
